| Introduction | This blog started as a result of having dinner with some friends and telling them our tales of woe as we stumbled through pig rearing, chicken keeping, vegetable growing, fishing and various other means to produce our own food. One of them suggested creating a blog to record the various misadventures. So here it is! I don’t claim to be an expert in any of the above areas but hopefully you might learn from some of my mistakes. We moved from Dublin down to Carlow in the south east of Ireland and since then I have been sneaking in ever more animals, vegetables and food related hobbies (fishing, shooting etc) much to the dismay of my long suffering girlfriend! The cast is as follows: Myself, my girlfriend, George the working cocker, the hens, Agnes and Betty. Every year we keep two lodgers one called Sausage and the other Bacon who arrive around May and mysteriously disappear in early November! We don’t really have any master plan or want to save the world but rather want to have some fun trying to produce our own food, and enjoying the variety of eating local seasonal and often wild produce |
