| Introduction | My given name is Melinda Sparks Mills but Ma and Pa mostly just called me Melly so I'm sticking with that, thank you very much. I'm 15 years and seven months old, and nearly 18 feet tall--and no, that's not a typo!!!
Ma died three years ago, and Pa passed on last fall. It was just me and the cows for a while, happy and free until mean old Mrs. Johansson from the Child Welfare Division found out about me. Since then I've been taken in by Mr. and Mrs. Appleton, a nice couple who own an orchard next to our family farm. They have a really shy son named Jay, but we don't get along very well. I also have tutoring sessions four days a week with my physician, Dr. Crisp, so I can be ready for school in the fall--for the first time ever!!! It's hard to fit in when you're "living large" like me, but I'm taking it one day at a time. I update my journal on most weekdays, sometimes twice!!! My story starts here. |
