| Introduction | Contact with natural phenomena such as the sea, animals, plants and the cycles of nature, provide me with inspiration for my artwork. The underlying theme is to raise an awareness of the importance of conserving and valuing the balance and harmony between humans and nature. Clay is my chosen medium because it incorporates the elements of earth, air, water and fire. Its versatility allows me to interpret the forms, colours and textures that I am attracted to by using a variety of firing methods including Raku, pit-firing and mid-range temperatures. I was born in Melbourne where I attended Melbourne State College majoring in ceramics. I have exhibited my work in most Australian states and have work in many private and public collections including the Geelong, Newcastle and Shepparton Regional Galleries and various tertiary collections. In 1980 the Crafts Council of Australia selected me to participate in the International Ceramics Exhibition in Faenza, Italy. |
