Introduction I took the name Jerome when I was confirmed. Saint Jerome (347-419) is a Doctor of the Church, a Father of the Church, and a patron saint of students and Bible scholars. His finest work was the translation of the whole Bible into Latin, the version known as the Vulgate, still in use today. He also translated various histories, biographies, and the works of Origen. He produced many polemics, treatises and letters, often provoking anger, but always stimulating those who read them – perhaps he should be the patron saint of bloggers!?
