| Introduction | I began writing poetry recently after the darkest period in my life. I retired as a statistician in the federal government five years ago because of a chronic progressive autoimmune disease. About a year ago, a major flare threw me into a physical and psychic downward spiral which I didn't think I would survive. I finally obtained relief through medical and psychotherapy. But my true path to wholeness began with deep soul work. I now bow down in gratitude for my illness. It has become my greatest teacher. My poetry is a reflection of that truth. My greatest hope is that others will find true wholeness also. And, if these small poems provide a gateway, I will be twice blessed. |
