| Introduction | My beautiful mum gained her angel wings on the 20th December 2021. She is finally free from dementia. Mum had always been a very creative person and had passed on her love of arts and crafts to me. I graduated in 1984 with a degree in Art and Textile Design but for many years life took me down a different path and my love of art only resurfaced when I discovered how invaluable it is for those with memory problems. During the eight years that I cared for mum I used Art Therapy to give her meaning and purpose to her days. I introduced activities and crafts that brought her immense pleasure and we proved that it is possible to live well after a dementia diagnosis. I hope that the ideas I have shared on my blog will help others on a similar journey to find as much love, laughter and creativity as we did. www.creative-carer.com |
