| Introduction | Both founders are University of Minnesota graduates and approach natural burial from unique viewpoints while supporting all natural burial initiatives. Nicole received an Environmental Design degree from the Department of Landscape Architecture. Her dedication to natural burial stems from her cultural beliefs and her educational foci on social and environmental sustainability and responsible land planning. Her major writing on the subject is a memorial landscape feasibility study entitled “Earth to Earth, Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Formaldehyde.” Nicole spends her free time snuggling with her daughter, Madi, and enjoys kayaking and napping, although not at the same time. Theresa Purcell earned degrees in Social Criminology and Anthropology. In 2007, she completed a thesis entitled “Green Burial and Western Attitudes Towards Death: The Quest for Immortality.” Her values and business concentrations include land and wildlife preservation and increased social awareness for alternative burial options. Theresa is founder and president of the Twin Cities cinema group, Trash Film Debauchery. She also enjoys tea, traveling, and spending time with her handsome cat Morris. |
