| Introduction | Welcome to Prairie Rose Memories and the site of Debbie & Einar Sandland’s photography. I (Debbie) grew up in the prairies, and from the time my dad would let me use his Voigtländer 35mm camera, I was hooked. I loved to take it with me on my wanders through our 80 acres; to catch the marsh marigolds in bloom near our old artesian well and to capture the pink blossoms on our crab apple near the creek. I would cross the creek right after a storm to see the dark clouds framed by the light that follows the storm. I don’t know if any of those actual pictures still exist, other than in my memory. But it set the stage for a love of beauty and photography. Needing a way to share my photos, I started making cards and calendars shortly after going digital. Einar has also been taking pictures since his teen years. Although his work schedule hasn’t allowed him to get as involved in photography as I am, we see things differently and he often gets the shots I miss. Some of my favorite photos are his. |
