| Introduction | I think Gilda Radner said it best when she said, “Cancer gave me membership in an elite club I’d rather not belong to”. On March 7th I was diagnosed with Squamous Cell cancer of the Head and Neck. After several biopsies, a Pet Scan and outpatient surgeries, that didn’t go as well as planned, the doctors at UF Cancer Center in Orlando were not able to find the primary source. What this means is the treatment will be hard. The way to beat this is to treat ALL of the area in my mouth, throat, and sinuses where it most likely originated from to make sure they kill it. The treatment will be seven weeks of radiation therapy to my mouth and neck five days a week with one of those days also being a chemotherapy day. I am not looking forward to the treatment plan but I agree that this will be the best way to attack it. We don’t know God’s plan for our lives, but we know His plan is perfect. I may be the one diagnosed with the disease, but my entire family is changed because of it. I will use this blog so that people can follow our journey and to show how much this disease affects the entire family. |
