| Introduction | Who I am is still evolving. As of a year ago I would have written this: I am a woman, a college graduate, a wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister, a bulldog owner, a 2 kitty owner, a reader, a traveler, a hater of exercise, a lover of cloudy rainy days and an avid cook and restaurant enjoying annoyingly self-proclaimed FOODIE! Then two words changed that...CELIAC DISEASE. And it isn't even MY word. My beautiful and brave 9 year old daughter owns that word now. I want that word to be mine not hers! It should be mine as her protector and her keeper of all things safe and she should be free to go on about her life as free and unemcumbered as she was meant to be. But no. She now owns a life time of checking every label, bringing her own sweet little bag of food to a sleepover, quietly taking out her GF bar while all the other kids enjoy the birthday cake in class, asking that extra time "are you sure it doesn't contain gluten?" "You're sure??" That should be me. Not her. But it is her... and therefore it is us as a family now. Wife, mother, husband, father, daughter 0ne and daughter Two. And here begins our tales, trials, failures and successes of a Gluten Free life... |
