Introduction | Lokelani was born in the town of Wailuku on the island of Maui, Hawaii. Her lineage trace to the Ali’i (royalty) of Hawaii, a fact that is meaningless in regards to her place in society. She considers herself an ordinary kind of person, not better than the next person. There is no monetary value involved; however, this fact is very significant to the Polynesian culture and it is this heritage that she draws on for most of her subjects. Lokelani is inspired by the faces of interesting “characters” who pass through her life, her grandchildren, and the written word. She prefers painting figurative realism and portraiture, and recently discovered a love for florals. Her medium of choice is oil. There are no degrees from prestigious universities or notable art schools to list here, but the art coming from this artist is promising. |
Interests | spending time with grandkids and family, oil painting, drawing, reading, cooking, scrapbooking. |
Favorite Movies | I enjoy movies with dynamic acting; i.e. Dark Knight, DeJaVu, Schindler's List, Shawshank Redemption, etc., etc. |
Favorite Music | Country, easy listening, Christian, music from the 70's. |
Favorite Books | Mysteries from James Patterson, Catherine Coulter, Iris Johansen, Patricia Cornwell, Michael Connelly, etc. |
