| Introduction | 'A man must shape himself to a new mark directly the old one goes to ground' - Sir Ernest Shackleton upon the final abandonment of his ship, the Endurance, in the frozen waters of the Antarctic. I am a visual artist whose writing centers around the history of the Arctic and Antarctic regions and my own art practice. These letters are written in transition: from crossing oceans, both physical and metaphorical, while searching for lost objects, visions, and histories whose foundations shift and quake as the tremors of the spring thaw. |
