| Introduction | Textiles are my happy place. I want to learn everything I can about these ancient crafts and their art. Textiles and their embellishment, whether historic or modern, are about art, craft, talent, imagination, self-expression, usefulness and ubiquity. They are essential to our daily comfort and bring beauty and pleasure to our hearts. When I pick up my needle and thread, sit at my spinning wheel, knit or weave a fabric for someone's comfort and pleasure, and lose myself in books and museums, I am connected to all those who have spun and woven and sewed and embroidered through the centuries. And I'm happy. |
