| Introduction | Don Zimmerman is a fifth generation native Texan born and raised in San Antonio. He recalls numerous trips to the Alamo at tender ages, the Barry Goldwater campaign when he was four, and deep involvement in the family’s grassroots political activities throughout his youth. Zimmerman earned B.S. and M.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University and enjoyed a successful high tech software engineering career. He has been a delegate or alternate to every state GOP Convention since 1996, has served as a GOP precinct chair, ran as a Republican for State Representative and County Tax Assessor-Collector (2006, 2008), and was elected to the State Republican Executive Committee in 2010. As President of his Utility District (2002-2010), he spearheaded successful legal challenges which were won at the Texas Supreme Court and United States Supreme Court, and led the successful dissolution of his Utility District and abolition of its property tax in 2010. Zimmerman resides in Austin, Texas with his wife and daughter. |
