Introduction I'm a historian of the modern Middle East with a special interest in the Arabian Peninsula and Israel. I was born in the San Francisco Bay Area, and have lived in Israel for the past 26 years. I hold academic appointments at Tel Aviv University and Stanford University. I'm also a Zionist.
