| Introduction | Throughout college I always anticipated taking a trip across the US as the pinnacle of my youth, and my last chance for personal freedom before hitting the workforce. This trip presents not only an opportunity to do just that, but more importantly, a chance to reach out to a those who, like me, try to pursue a happy and healthy life, but have their plans painfully interrupted by a physical ailment like MS. The idea that someone's ability to realize their dreams and goals can be limited by a physical body that's constrained by a life-long disease really bothers me. And that's why I'm doing this. After watching certain people in my life struggle against something like this, I've come realize that I'm just as susceptible to these diseases as they were. There's a lot of bad stuff out there like MS and if I can get behind just one thing, at the end of the day, that's really all I can do. |
| Interests | I'm a senior at Virginia Tech studying geography with a concentration in geospatial and environmental analysis, so I have an attraction to this trip because of the extraordinary physical landscape and man's interaction with it. I'm a saltwater fish tank fanatic and love going to music shows, especially the festivals of the summer. I think what I'm looking forward to the most is being able to share and listen to the stories and experiences of those I meet along the way. But I can hardly wait to climb the Rockies and call home to say I told you so, haha. |
