| Introduction | Come and share our adventures as we sail to, and live in various parts of the world. Let us introduce you to the people we live with, and see where and how they live. We are Peter and Cindy Barker, and we live on our Australian sailing yacht Bowtie Lady. I left Sydney, Australia ten years ago and sailed solo 55,000kms across the Indian Ocean to Africa, then across the Atlantic Ocean to the Caribbean and the United States. Later I sailed again solo from New York to England across the North Atlantic. Cindy joined me in England, and together we sailed down to Gibraltar, and then through the Mediterranean to Turkey. For the last 4 years, we have been living in Turkey, right on the Syrian border. It was a wonderful experience living with refugees in a conservative and traditional culture, speaking a different language and trying to make a difference in this troubled part of the world. Today we are living in Sicily where I work remotely writing business proposals and marketing material. Cindy is teaching English to local children. |
