| Introduction | Hi I'm Max and when I was 18 months old I went from being a really healthy little toddler to a very clumsy, fussy, uncordinated boy. Mom took me to lots of doctors to try to find out was wrong and they found cancer in my adrenal gland called neuroblastoma, they also found that my body was trying to fight the cancer and instead started fighting my brain they call this Opsoclonus Myoclonus Ataxia Syndrome (OMS). It got so bad that I couldn't walk or sit up by myself, I would shake all the time, and my eyes would dance. Luckily we had good doctors watching me and was able to quickly have a dangerous surgery to take out my adrenal gland and most of the cancer. I am now taking lots of yucky medications, chemo, and relearning how to do normal things like walking, talking, and eating. I am doing really well and I am much happier. I don't like taking all the medicine that tastes yucky and makes me feel funny, but I know that it is making me better. I also have lots of friends and family praying for me, I know that it is helping me. |
