| Introduction | I consider myself to be conscious, but a real conscious person realizes they are never conscious enough. I believe in the liberation of all people from racism, sexism, classism, homophobia and any man-made prejudice that seeks to stifle the life, happiness, and good intentions of others. I am not afraid to speak my mind. I am afraid of keeping things inside. I'm real. That's my best asset and my worse fault. I can't stand Negroes who complain about the terms "nigga," and "baby daddy," and then act like "niggas" and "baby daddys." Phony intellect is mental masturbation. It does nothing but make YOU feel good so keep it to yourself. I'm full of contradictions. I curse a lot and pray more. I can't stand sappy liberals and most of my friends are sappy liberals. Conservative Christianity is icky to me, and I'll jam to Steven Curtis Chapman all night long. I'm a law-abiding citizen, and you can gon head and pass dat pon de lef han side. I don't like war, and I believe that some folks need their asses kicked. |
| Interests | I'm interested in justice, almost to a fault. (Definitely to the point where I should'nt have been taking all those damn neo-con teacher's classes in undergrad! They were tryin to fail a sista!) I'm interested in race from a sociological standpoint. (So none of that, "Oh, if we all respect each other, racism will go away...." bullsh*t. It didn't happen that easily, it can't be fixed that easily.) I'm interested in GOOD music and those who can appreciate it. I'm interested in people. I'm not exactly Ms. Social Butterfly, but I love to observe and converse with people with real and supported opinions. I'm interested in living my life in a way which pleases God, not man. I'm interested in Womanist, Black, and Liberation theology because I believe that God is no respecter of persons and because I know that "between Christianity and revolution there is NO contradiction." |

| Favorite books | My favorite two books of all time are The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck & The Autobiography of Malcolm X. After that, randomly come, The Yogurt Man Cometh: Tales Of An American Teacher in Turkey by Kevin Revolinski, Our Endangered Values by President Jimmy Carter, The Age of American Unreason, The Devil And the White City, It's the Little Things: Everyday Interactions That Anger, Annoy, and Divide the Races (the first book I read that told me that I wasn't crazy when it came to racism), Go Ask Alice, Racism Without Racists, The Joy Luck Club, Trying to Sleep In the Bed You Made, Martin and Malcolm: A Dream or A Nightmare, The B.I.B.L.E. (yes that's the book for me!), King Leopold's Ghost, Things Fall Apart, Animal Farm, Weep Not Child, The Politics of Jesus by Obery Hendricks, and a whole host of others that I can't remember right now. But some of my fave authors are BeBe Moore Campbell, James Cone, J. California Cooper, Michael Eric Dyson, and Amy Tan. I also love biographies (especially about musicians), anthologies about interesting subjects, and historical novels. Currently, I love anything about travel in Europe especially in Turkey! (Ow!) |
