| Interests | After relocating to Oahu from Seattle in 2007, I took my first silversmithing class at the Honolulu Academy of Art, and I've been in love with the process of working with metal since my first swing of the hammer. I've always worked with my hands. I started beading and making jewelry with whatever I could find at age 15. I took ceramics classes for years during my late teens and early twenties. I've been a massage therapist since 2002. In 2006, I completed a 3 month apprenticeship in permaculture and natural building in Israel. I've never been able to draw or paint, but give me a modality that involves manipulating materials into some kind of object, and I'm there... I work primarily in sterling silver and often use semi-precious stones and beads in my designs. The stones I use are all one of a kind, untreated, and cut by various lapidary artists around the country. All shaping, forging, sawing, and finishing is done by hand one piece at a time-ensuring that each piece is as unique as the individual who claims it. I am a lover of textures, and bold color. You will find plenty of bright blues and greens in my work lately, as I am more and more inspired by my tropical surroundings. |
