| Introduction | I just finished Sharon Draper's novel, Out of My Mind, about a girl with cerebral palsy who cannot communicate the whirlwind of thoughts going through her mind until she gets an assistive computer. After nine years of keeping everything in her mind, she is finally able to get it out! My excuse for keeping things to myself is mundane: too little time, too little discipline, too many obligations that scream more loudly and persistently. But it is great to finally get them out of my mind. |
