| Introduction | I am is a licensed professional counselor in the State of Colorado with 21 years of counseling experience. I am of Greek descent and I grew up in a Greek community in Alexandria, Egypt. I got my B.Sc. degree in Psychology at the University College London, England, and my doctorate in Psychology at the University of Calgary, Canada. I came to the U.S. in 1981. I became aware of the multiple challenges of the corrections workplace when I began counseling with corrections personnel and their significant others in the year 2000, after relocating my private practice from Denver to Fremont County, Colorado. As a result, in the year 2003 I and a group of caring citizens in Florence, CO, set up the non-profit Desert Waters Correctional Outreach with the mission to increase the occupational, personal and family well-being of corrections and detention staff. |
