| Introduction | I’m a native Texan. As a kid I spent summer vacations in Colorado, and my heart is always close to the mountains, and wolves. Fortunately, Japan has a lot of those. Well, mountains at least. Not so much with the wolves.
My story is rather simple. I grew up in a family that followed Jesus. I understood at an early age who Jesus is and why He died on the cross. One night when I was five years old, my heart was uneasy; I felt convicted that I was a sinner and that I needed Jesus to save me from my sins. I asked my mother (who had been praying for me) how I could trust Jesus, and she explained to me. And so I gave my life to Him. As He promised, He forgave me, washed me clean, and gave me new life in my spirit. Over the years, though I have often been weak and faithless, He has continued to lead me and free me from various struggles with depression, nihilism, bitterness, unforgiveness, pride, and the selfishness in my heart. My introduction to Japan was teaching English in Nishinomiya. While there, He gave me a heart for the Japanese and a passion to share His love with them the way that my mother shared it with me when I was a child. |
