| Introduction | STAR is a not-for-profit membership organization whose mission it is to assist people with physical, emotional, and social challenges and their families. For over 45 years, Star has been assisting young children, adults, and senior citizens with developmetal disabilites. Beginning with infants and children with special needs, Star's Rubino Center provides early intervention services through individualized therapeutic, educational, and social services. WHAT WE BELIEVE Our philosophy is based on best practices and research in birth to Three services.We believe: * Children are more likely to genralize skills learned in the places that they will use them *Children learn appropriate social skills from typical peers *You are the primary teacher of your child since you spend the majority of their time with him/her *If intervention takes place throughout their day, your child has more opportunities to experience and practice * Each family and child is unique with individual needs and concerns *Services should support the family as a whole |
