Interests	ChicVoyage is a blog I started a couple years ago in an attempt to write down all my personal travel experience. Not purely to write about visits to distant lands in a manner of ‘I went here, I saw this, food was great, wish you were here’ but to evoke the bigger picture of what traveling outside your boundaries is. To me, traveling has always meant more than hotels and umbrella drinks on the beach, it’s about self reflection and observation; an opportunity to pluck yourself out of your normal environment and to throw yourself into a brand new world. Traveling is a crash course in self realization; of stripping yourself of all familiar and comfortable surroundings and the chance for self-discovery is immense. In traveling, we resort to infancy, everything is brand new: tasting, touching, seeing, hearing and smelling for the very first time. Our senses become reignited and rejuvenated because they have no other alternative but to do so! New sounds (Swahili), new tastes (roasted gerbil), new sights (a lion's launch and kill of a wildebeest), new touches (a llama's spit on your face) and new smells (a Bangkok fish market). Therefore, I strive to evoke in my writings the bigger picture: our fears, passions, life lessons, disgusts, prejudices, challenges, curiosities, all of which anybody can relate to, even if traveling to you is nothing more than a trip to your mailbox.
