| Introduction | My fascination with watercolor began at age 8. That interest led to an art major in college and a teaching credential with an art specialty. After teaching in junior high for a few years and after my children were born, I began studying with some of California’s premier painters - Roger Armstrong, Rex Brandt, Gerald Brommer, Keith Crown, Millard Sheets, and Robert E. Wood to name a few. I adore painting on location and am lucky enough to have painted and taught in glorious locales: Europe, Mexico, Western Samoa, French Polynesia and my own state and country. In 1998 I opened Schroeder Studio Gallery in the historic district of Orange, CA. My daughter Katie, a glass artist, is my partner and we specialize in watermedia and art glass with other American Craft artists in additional media. Workshops are offered throughout the year. I was one of 17 artists asked to provide a chapter for Work Small, Learn Big, a book on ink and watercolor published by International Artist in 2003. In 2006, at the invitation of the Orange Public Library Foundation, I created 14 paintings representing the history of Orange for the new main library History Walk. |
