Introduction | I'm a 74-yr old knitting fool. I'm retired from the public library, and I try to support my yarn habit by designing and knitting children/baby hats & sweaters, toys, occasionally a shawl or lady's hat for a shop in Cooperstown. I have knitted for as long as I can remember, having taught myself as a child after my mom taught me how to cast-on the long-tail method to keep me busy while she recuperated from pneumonia. I usually have a baggie in my purse with a sock or hat going for when I get stuck in traffic or a doctor's waiting room. I've been lucky to find a guy who enjoys wearing wool socks and I make him several pairs a year even if he is 6'3" and wears a size 12 shoe! I use a 30+-yr-old from-the-neck-down sweater pattern modifying details as I go. I like raglans because they are more comfortable and fit kids better and longer, and have few or no seams and I hate sewing! We live in a little house in a little woods with our 2 dogs an almost 14 yr old Australian Cattle dog/mix named Fanny and a 7 yr old Beagle named Zoey. |
