| Introduction | Joie's decision to work on her PhD at UMass Amherst required a move (with Mama Marilyn) from tropical Miami Beach to the snowy countryside. The different environment was expected but the shortage of housing choices was not! There are no major housing developers in the area, which is the only way we had ever purchased a home. Almost everything is old/dated and almost all need some degree of reno work. We ended up with a fairly solid 1960s ranch-style that mostly needed updating...or so we thought... |
