About me

Introduction Betsy Thomassen has been a passionate crafter since the age of 7, when she attended an after-school art program in her hometown of Maplewood, NJ. As a teenager she won 4th of July ribbons for her crewel work, and learned to crochet from her 88 year old grandmother, to whom she credits her artistic ability. Betsy learned to craft earrings in 1995 from a spunky beading guru in Vienna, VA named Star. Since then she has added wire-wrapping techniques to her repertoire and fashioning necklaces of semi-precious gems. Betsy’s passion for bold colors and rich textures is a common theme in her work, along with a guaranteed hint of sparkle in every piece. Each item is unique by imaginative design coupled with Mother Nature’s way of creating stones with one-of-a-kind colors and patterns. Betsy’s other creative interests include photography, costume design, decoupage, origami mobiles, and organizing splashy social events. Betsy fell in love with Washington, DC over 20 years ago and now lives in Arlington, VA.
