| Introduction | Chinkapins are once again growing on the homestead. Fifty years ago residents in our area walked for miles to pick these tasty nuts off of shrubs in the fall. Over the years, as the woods grew, the chinkapins got shaded out, and overgrazed by livestock sharing the space. We planted several as three years ago, and this year, there are little chinkapins growing on the hill again. |
