| Introduction | Although I was born in Yorkshire I have spent the past 50 years in East Anglia. An atheist, I was educated at Wymondham College, Anglia Polytechnic (now Ruskin) University Queen Mary,University of London. I'm twice married with 3 children and 2 grand children. In recent years I qualified as a history lecturer in a college of Further Education. I like metaphysical poetry, Sylvia Plath, Philip Larkin, Seamus Heaney, John Betjeman; favourite historians are Jardine, Ackroyd, Schama & Woods; love crime thrillers such as Inspector Morse, Wallander, Law & Order (U.S.), Silent Witness; other TV musts are Time Team and Mad Men; favourite actors are Helen Mirren, Judi Dench, Cate Blanchett, Colin Firth, Kenneth Branagh, Harrison Ford; other people I admire are Germaine Greer, Christina Patterson of the Independent, David Mitchell (comedian), Trevor Bayliss, and millionaires who give away their fortunes. |
