| Introduction | After serving in the Army, earning a BA in Hospitality Management, starting a family, and becoming a licensed Esthetician I now find myself back at school to earn an AS in Early Childhood Education. I would like to become a preschool teacher. Now that my youngest daughter is turning five I have come to realize how precious the first five years of a child's life are and I would love for that curiosity, growth, and innocence to remain in my life. I would enjoy being part of the learning process and supporting young children by establishing a positive foundation for their life. My mother was a fabulous preschool teacher. She worked for Head Start which meant being the mother to a privileged family, but working with lower income, ethnic families. I often went to her classroom and remember her being larger-than-life to those kids. She used to roll around the ground, take the class outside to see who could scream the loudest, and taught outside the box. She even learned basic Spanish to sing songs, read books, and communicate. It is my goal to take my life experiences and education and apply it creatively to the early education of future generations. |
