Introduction It’s been said that people who are dying of a mysterious illness feel better if they can understand the cause of the illness, even if there’s nothing anyone can do to save them. That pretty much sums up what my life has been about: trying to understand myself, other people, and the universe, even though there is not much I can do to change these things. My first and only academic position started in 1981 at the DuBois Campus of Penn State. I have moved up the ranks there, mostly publishing in the area of personality psychology because evolutionary psychology had not been recognized as a legitimate area of study. My research to continues to focus on personality today, and I am moving into the area of on-line personality testing and interpretation. I still have a strong interest in the evolutionary basis of the human condition, and hope to write more about morality, religion, and politics from an evolutionary perspective.
