| Introduction | I am a writer at heart, but troubled by how cynical I've become while simply seeking the truth (it's so elusive). But while on this journey I managed to experience a few things; like growing up in Alaska, enlisting in the Marines at 17, working in the U.S. Senate, managing some small newspapers and writing freelance for bigger ones (like WaPo), and promoting literacy for a decade at Reading Is Fundamental before Congress killed it. I'm married, and we adopted 3 kids from 3 different countries in the 1990s and in 2007 dragged their asses literally around the world to see the places where they were born. Somewhere in all that I may have found something to say. |
