| Introduction | 英語コーパス学会のSIGである本研究会は、コーパスを利用した言語変異の言語学的研究を促進することを目的とします。ここで言う言語変異とは、言語の社会的変異、地域的変異等の狭義の社会言語学的変異だけでなく、通時的変異や（共時の）同義的な語彙・文法上の変異なども含む広範なものです。従いまして、本研究会で扱う分野は、社会言語学、歴史言語学、語法・文法研究などになります。背景の異なる研究分野の研究者が集まり意見交換をすることで、新たな視点の研究や新たな研究方法を開発することを目指したいと思います。また、まだ着想のみの研究や萌芽的な研究の発表も促進したいと考えております。同時に若手研究者の研究を奨励し、本分野の研究がより活性化することを目指したいと思っております。研究会はインフォーマルな雰囲気で、意見交換を活発に行えるようにしたいと考えています。 Welcome to the Language Variation Research Group, a Special Interest Group of the Japan Association for English Corpus Studies (JAECS). Our mission is to explore the many faces of language variation through the lens of corpora. We take a broad view of variation — from social and regional differences, to historical change, to the subtle choices of words and grammar that shape meaning. Our work spans sociolinguistics, historical linguistics, usage studies, and beyond. This group is a place for sharing ideas, trying out new approaches, and sparking collaborations. We especially encourage early-stage projects and aim to support emerging researchers in developing their work.
