Introduction | Originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin where I grew up, my passion for food began when I moved to Chicago upon finishing college and got a job with Easter Seal as a Speech Pathologist. Prior to moving to Chicago, I have to say I was not an adventurous eater. But Chicago opened up so many different foods, I became excited to visit as many diverse restaurants as possible. But working for a non- profit agency did not provide me with enough cash to spend on food. It was time to try making things at home. It was in Chicago where I met my husband in the 70's. He was a real meat and potatoes guy and when we married, he was always willing to try what I had made. Years ago he told me about his many food allergies and asparagus was one. Well... one night I made an asparagus casserole but I told him it was green beans because he supposedly had an asparagus allergy. He loved it. A week later I told him it was not green beans, but asparagus. He and our 5 sons have been my best supporters along with a sister and two great friends! Culinary school was my second career. And I loved it as much as my Masters Program in Speech. And I love working in both worlds. |
