| Introduction | I am Walini Rose, Cherokee, Indian, and proud. Proud of my family that have walked this earth before I ever stepped here, and honored to call them spirits of my heart. In the world of my adopted family, my white world, I am uncomfortable and out of place. My heart reaches for the place I belong; back to Grand-Daddy's cedar cabin at the edge of the reservation in the Smokey Mountains. This is the place where my dreams take me, and the precious one's I visit each night as I go about my dream journey. My dreams keep me sane, prevent me from hating the offenders of my way of life and those that will never understand my heart. I know there are others that share my heart without question. It is to you my brothers and sisters that my world will pull you along with me as I walk on toward the end of my path here, and to the day that the sky door will appear at the end of my trail. There behind that door will wait those whose hearts have beckoned me home and the creatures so loved that I shared their heart and they my own. My creator must surely have plucked them from the insanity and kept them safe for me until I come home to them. |
