Introduction | I have been working on wood bowl shapes/design for about 12 years, starting out with locally scavenged cherry trunks and burls, and eventually including beautiful woods from other continents (sustainable, hopefully). It has taken a long time to figure out what tools to use, which woods work well, and what shapes/designs are generally pleasing to the eye. Since I failed shop in public school, I had no preconceived notions or training, and was free to figure it out for myself. I have never used a lathe. Round is not in my vocabulary. Several top design dealers own my work- Troy Halterman, Mark McDonald, Ralph Pucci. Wood is a wonderful medium and there is always something new to learn about it. |
