About me

Introduction Who We Are: The Botany Enthusiasts Club (BEC) is the first and only Botany Club at UBC, and the only student club directly affiliated with the UBC Department of Botany. And thanks to the dedication and work of the founding members, BEC is officially a AMS Club. What We Do: BEC seeks to bring together UBC faculty members, graduate students, and undergraduates who share a passion for the discipline of botany and/or a general interest in plants. Throughout the Winter Session, the executive members of BEC organize a variety of plant-related activities and events that promote the building of a community of plant admirers at UBC (please check below for the schedule of events). Everyone is welcomed and encouraged to attend these events, as long as they share our love for plants.
Interests Our Mission: - To increase the awareness of plants (including moss, fungi and algae) throughout the UBC campus, and their significance to our environment. - To provide the opportunity for people with a common interest in botany to socialize and have fun while learning about plants. - To provide extracurricular learning opportunities such as field trips, guest talk events, and botany class study sessions. - To encourage members to engage in plant-related community volunteer projects. - To facilitate interactions with faculty and graduate students for the sake of learning, networking and enjoyment.
