| Introduction | I retired as an Air Force officer, pilot, and teacher in 1959. I served one combat tour in Vietnam from 1967 to 1968. Later I retired 30 as a technical writer, consultant, and manager. During those 50 years I taught writing and literature at the college level for 30 years. I have also volunteered for the past 14 years as a naturalist for several national, state, and non-profit nature preserves. I now write poetry and have published two books of poetry, We Leave the Safety of the Sea (2013) and A Death at Tollgate Creek (2017) and my poetry has appeared in numerous journals and anthologies. I've also published a memoir, What's It All About, Alfie (2002), and a book on business writing, Writing from Scratch: For Business (1990). I live in Denver with my wife, Kathy, and our pup Walker. |
