About me

IntroductionFor me art is a way to escape reality, it is a tool I use to relax and construct an alternate world. For the past three years I have been exploring the realm of macro landscapes, this obsession started off by capturing the thousands of mini landscapes that exist in any given scene. Since starting this exploration of macro landscapes I have developed a method of creating artificial ‘Tabletop Landscapes”, by using found natural materials and miniature train figures. I use painting with light, flash or tea light candles to create a mysterious, yet somewhat believable lighting effect. Many of my images explore the idea of scale and the way the viewer perceives scale when there is nothing to gauge size from, my current body of work investigates the role that the media has in reporting, fictionalizing and glorifying crimes, this work investigates, in particular, famous Australian murders and serial killers. For me, tabletop landscapes offer endless photographic challenges and rewards.
