Introduction | Hi, I'm a full-time writer of Italian historical fiction. I was an academic working at Aberdeen University for 18 years before retiring in order to concentrate on writing. I hold a Master's degree from Durham University and a PhD from Aberdeen. I speak Italian, French, German and a little Spanish. Currently I'm working on the sequel to 'The Door of Perarolo'. TDOP is the first of four novels set in or around the river port of Perarolo di Cadore. It covers the period 1810 to1814. In 1814 the French occupation of the region ceased, and the Austrian occupation started, to continue throughout the Risorgimento until the final stages of the unification of Italy. The Door of Perarolo tells the story of a French forester who was sent to Cadore to manage the transportation of ships' masts, to find his life changed forever as a result. TDOP is based on a true story. It is historical novel that is a story of both romance and adventure. The blog doorofperarolo.blogspot.com supports readers by providing links to maps and web pages that provide information on the history and culture of the Veneto region, and much more. I hope you will find it interesting! |
