| Introduction | My name is Leon Roode and I'm known as the Hokkaido Bush Pig because of all the time I've spent in the Hokkaido bush and mountains. I am a kiwi who lived in Japan and worked as a hiking guide for over 16 years. In that time I have hiked every mountain and peak in Hokkaido and made well over 100 multi-day treks into Daietsuzan National Park and I am mentioned as a guide for Daisetsuzan NP in the "lonely planet" "hiking in Japan" book (2nd edition). I moved back to NZ in May 2013 to be closer to my orderly mother and step dad and to be around to help out. I miss Japan and especially Hokkaido but I'm really enjoying being back in good old NZ. |
