Introduction | I am a Thanatologist - with an MA in Religion: The Rhetoric and Rituals of Death and a BA (Hons)in Death Loss and Palliative Care. I have been accepted by The University of Winchester, to do a PhD...In death! I am also a qualified Embalmer and a French-Polisher - I entered the funeral business by polishing mother's burial box. I have a diploma in foot healthcare another as a Practitioner of NLP. ...eccentric - so they say! Really? Was I like that before I embalmed my Granny? |
Interests | Thanatology, books, study, thinking and day dreaming too! Religions and theologies of all kinds interest me - what makes people 'tick'...I am interested in quirky things and have been to some reasonably quirky places in the world. I paint, draw - sometimes and sculpt - when the mood takes me. I like old things and live in an old house, on an Island, inhabited since 1740 so I believe - before which it was a cow shed! My spouse is a real traveller of the world who has been to many wonderful world heritage sites. I have just had a large sculpture accepted to handg in the chapel of The University of Winchester... |
Favorite Movies | Anything Australian - you must see 'The Jammed', '10 Canoes', 'Yolngu Boy, 'Jindabyne', 'Rabbit-Proof-Fence'. Oh and of course - a couple of Julie Andrews films: 'The Sound of Music' and 'Victor Victoria'... |
Favorite Music | BACH; township jive; Missy Higgins; Joni Mitchell; more BACH...But mostly I am a Radio 4 addict. |
Favorite Books | Anything by Christine Quigley, 'Stiff' Mary Roach, anything on death, dying, funeral ritual, social attitudes to death mourning and grief, Embalming. Books generally...I collect them. |
