| Introduction | My name is Mark and I was born in 1957. I became interested in trains and in particular model trains when I received a Marx HO train set for Christmas in 1962. My father built model airplanes (mostly rubber powered flying models), so the concept of modeling was already planted in my head. My dad, who is now 83, still builds model airplanes. During most of my youth, I modeled N-scale. Around 1986 I joined the Houston Society of Model Engineers and began to switch to HO. About the same time, I also found a book called Pennsy Steam and Semaphores, which is focused on the PRR from about 1890 to 1920. The purchase of that book has had more influence on my interest in the early 20th century PRR than anything else. During regular daylight hours, I work as a lead graphic design for a large corporation. I am also a member of our brand identity network helping to ensure visual cohesiveness and compliance with our graphic standards. Other interests are general model building, painting, playing bass guitar, coin collecting, U.S. History and Cowboy Action Shooting. |
