Introduction	I am a professor of History at Marian University and a Visiting Professor of American Studies at IUPUI. I have a Ph.D. in history from Ohio University and teach courses in United States history, including subfields in intellectual and cultural history, the history of the Catholic Church in the U.S., American religious history, American Studies, and movie culture. I co-direct the United States track of the history program with my colleague Mary Ellen Lennon. Since August 2009, I have served as chair of the History and Social Science Department. I've written four books, including, It's Only a Movie (2001), Freedom to Offend (2007), with Laura Wittern Keller, The Miracle Case (2008), and God and War: American Civil Religion since 1945 (2012). For the 2008-09 academic year, I had the great pleasure to be the Fulbright Danish Distinguished Chair in American Studies at the Center for the Study of the Americas (CSA) at the Copenhagen Business School. I maintain an affiliation with CSA and have one with IUPUI's very interesting Center for the Study of Religion and American Culture, as well.
