I co-direct the United States track of the history program with my colleague Mary Ellen Lennon. Since August 2009, I have served as chair of the History and Social Science Department. I've written four books, including, It's Only a Movie (2001), Freedom to Offend (2007), with Laura Wittern Keller, The Miracle Case (2008), and God and War: American Civil Religion since 1945 (2012). For the 2008-09 academic year, I had the great pleasure to be the Fulbright Danish Distinguished Chair in American Studies at the Center for the Study of the Americas (CSA) at the Copenhagen Business School. I maintain an affiliation with CSA and have one with IUPUI's very interesting Center for the Study of Religion and American Culture, as well.
