Introduction Hi! I created a blog to share my experiences as an avid triathlete! I thought I would share a little about who I am and how I was introduced to the sport. I come from a competitive swimming background-I swam for Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI. It was through fellow teammates that I tried my first triathlon. Who knew this would open a door to an ever-growing passion? After Calvin, I went to graduate school and earned my MA Degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Immediately after grad school, I trained more for tris by just running and biking more. I had a few successful races around MI, which encouraged me to train even more. At one of the local MI races, I met one of my friends and training partner, Kattie Carpenter-Rosa. My husband, Ross, Kattie, and her husband have been a huge influence on my triathlon pursuit. After being encouraged, I raced in the elite amateur div. at the Chicago Triathlon in 2009. With a successful race in Chicago where I finished 5th female overall, I began to think about what I wanted to pursue the following year. I am currently being coached by Barb Lindquist, who’s been amazing. I ended up qualifying to race professionally in July, 2010!
