| Introduction | Born and raised on a dairy farm in Switzerland, Barbara Libby-Steinann moved to Marin County, California in 1996 to study English and pursue an arts career. She earned a Bachelor of Retail Design from Gestalterische Berufschule in Zürich, Switzerland, a BFA in Illustration from California College of the Arts, and a Single Subject Visual Arts Teaching Credential from Dominican University of California. She is a Nation Board Certified Visual Arts Teacher, teaching art to grades TK-4th at Bacich Elementary in Kentfield. In 2018 Barbara has been recognized Marin County Teacher of the Year. She is a fine-arts painter and a strong arts mentor for students - recognizing the importance of integrating art into the school's curriculum to enhance learning. Apart from her teaching, Barbara makes sure to schedule time on weekends and during time off from school to work in her studio. It is important to her to stay current with her personal craft, oil paintings and pen and ink drawings. Whenever possible she exhibits her work in group-and solo shows. |
