| Introduction | Mike Sobol is an Engineering Analyst at The SimuTech Group, located in Rochester, NY. Mike’s responsibilities include static and dynamic FEA and technical support for ANSYS. Mike has 12 years experience in product design, development, testing and analysis. While working in the automotive industry, as a Senior Engineering Specialist, one of Mike’s focuses was to simulate various power transmission products (timing chain, CVT, VCT, etc) using ANSYS and MATLAB to maximize strength and durability while minimizing NVH and cost. Mike also regularly used simulation in combination with testing to gain insight into the causes of product failures during testing. During his time as a Product Engineer in trailer running gear products, Mike was again involved in analysis and product development, but he was also heavily involved in product testing. This included fatigue testing, trailer ride evaluation, and brake testing for CSA certification. In 1997 Mike earned his Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan Technological University in Houghton Michigan. |
