| Introduction | I am a graduate student in Political Science, focusing on the Middle East. This blog gets its name from my first visit to the region in 2006. While studying at Birzeit University outside Ramallah, Palestine, I gained the nickname 'Mumkin Yehudi'-Maybe Jewish. I had spent the first three months prevaricating about my religious background, evading the question by deferring to my Syrian and Lebanese roots. But the astute ones knew better, and Mumkin stuck. The word mumkin also carries implications of uncertainty and possibility, two qualities that steadily draw me, as a student, traveler, and researcher, to the region. |
